Ex-Display Lightyears Mingus P2 White

The Mingus, by Cecilie Manz for Lightyears, was designed from the outset to be simple and of course that pretty much guaranteed that it would end up complicated. The form appears organic despite progressing down in four linear facets and has a flat top with a power cord exiting through an acrylic ring which emits a soft glow up the lower reaches of the cable. The Mingus is made from aluminium and painted in nuanced natural tones which complement each other whilst blending with the lamps surroundings giving it an extra impact when its form is noticed. The Mingus is especially effective over counters or dining tables, anywhere in fact where a very pared back, allegedly simple light is required.

Dimensions: P2 diameter 34cm. H 32cm.

Please note: This light is an ex-display item sold as seen and can only be purchased from the showroom.

The design of a light should never shine brighter than the light itself. This is the message from the Danish designer, Cecilie Manz. This positive conviction stems from her upbringing in a creative environment of artists and craftsmen. Her interest in design and materials brought her to Danmarks Designskole, where she studied a curriculum of furniture and implements. Her determination to explore function and ability to think conceptually was sharpened further during a period of study in Helsinki. Today in her own design studio, Cecilie Manz strives to combine conceptualism with the Danish penchant for durable materials and sublime finish. An innovative fire and sense of detail express themselves in Cecilie Manz's lighting designs. As she puts it, new products should either be innovative and rejuvenating or offer improvement. Thus, she has done her utmost to develop designs that do not steal attention from the light, but ensure that function always prevails.

Lightyears, part of the Fritz Hansen Group, is a Danish light company that takes great pride in creating lighting products that combine both tradition and renewal. The core ambition of the company lies in the fusion of the young and the established. Lightyears embraces the curiosity and boldness of the up-and-coming generation, but equally they respect the skill and the trained eye of the older more experienced designers. This collaboration produces modern interpretations of established lighting products and it is Lightyears intention that these new incarnations speak for themselves on how and where to use contemporary illumination. The collection is functional, progressive, timeless and always represents good value for money. Lightyears cooperate with several of Danish design's most innovative and recognised designers like Jørn Utzon, Salto & Sigsgaard, Cecilie Manz, Morten Voss, Mads Odgaard as well as the Japanese designer Hidenori Kuge and the Danish/Italian design duo GamFratesi.
