PI Project

The PI in PI Project stands for 'Patrimonio Inmaterial,' Spanish for Intangible Heritage, a concept that involves knowledge and techniques inherited by generations which are crystallized into handcrafted pieces that express the talent of those communities. PI work with organized groups of Indigenous and Mestizo people in Mexico, searching for the essential knowledge that forges ethnic identity and that helps to resist cultural standardization. They are a French-Mexican company with experience in community development projects and heritage education. Fascinated by Mexico’s multiculturalism, they seek to support and promote these communities and their unique handcrafted pieces in order to preserve the cultural expression of Mexican artisans.
