ibride Edgar Raven
The Edgar Raven is a model bird of great verisimilitude despite being made from a series of flat MDF and plastic pieces. Designed by Benoît Convers for ibride Edgar arrives flat packed with all of his black components ready to be ingeniously interlocked, some with a satisfying click, a tribute to the accuracy of modern laser cutting. Assembly is completed in only a few minutes and leaves you with a Raven of great presence and nobility. Let him sit on a shelf or a mantle, even a tabletop, wherever you place him you can be sure he will be vigilant, forever looking into the deep unknown, ready to warn of interlopers. A fabulous ornament or object of resolute curiosity, once you let him in Edgar will always be there to watch over you.

Instilling a sense of history and emotion into each new creation is what characterises the approach of Benoît Convers. Indeed, with each new design he proves that the utility of an object can be animated with an emotional dimension, with memory and with meaning. He achieves this by breathing a hidden life into his creations and by conferring on them a secret dimension. In 2003, whilst working on the Nomadic stool, he was inspired by his dog and set out to give the stool the same physical and loyal sensibility. This morphology became the starting point of what was to become the emblematic “Mobilier de Compagnie” collection. As the designer of more than one hundred and twenty pieces for the ibride label, Benoît has developed an ecology of conception, where each product is enhanced both by simple assembly procedures and by production on a local scale. His greatest ambition is to design objects whose presence becomes essential to our lives and in doing so become items to be passed on from one generation to the next.
ibride were established in 1996, with the aim of cultivating otherness, celebrating the difference and by creating objects which make life a little better. Since its inception, ibride has grown rapidly in ambition and reputation, blossoming through a series of unique collections, where each and every object is the fruit of personal intuitions and convictions. It is all about creating and embracing a new mythology, building a world in which these exotic confections can coexist. This is a world populated with wild images, chance encounters, foreign travels, unlikely animals all threaded with knowing references to the history of art itself. The concept of the filial bond, binds all of their collections and is resolutely at the heart of their work. This familiarity is designed to work a special emotional catalyst into the objects that ibride make and which surround us in our daily lives. Each new collection audaciously aims to trigger an emotional response in us and in doing so unknowingly elevate the reputation of ibride even further.
