Textile designer Jan Wendt established Wendt-Design in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen in 2001. Jan designs and manufactures her fantastic unique cushions and throws by hand in her workshop in Smallegade 52, hand screen printing all of the fabrics herself. The Dot series were her first products which she designed in 2001 with the desire to create an un pillow like pillow, something that was more of an object, a perfect melding of form, fabric, pattern and shape. Each cushion or rug that Jan makes is printed on to a knitted felted wool, the fabric is steamed, washed and carefully checked for quality and has a wonderful softness and texture. Today Jan’s collection runs to over twenty different pillows and throws all of which are different but associated and can together create beautiful relationships. Wendt-Design products have been shown in the Danish Crafts Collection and in 2006 went on sale in the Museum of Modern Arts store in New York and were added to the Museum's permanent collection.
