Tom Dixon Beat Light - Stout

£795.00

The Beat Light Stout by Tom Dixon is part of a series of pendants inspired by the sculptural simplicity of cooking pots and water vessels found on the Indian subcontinent. The lights are handmade from brass which is spun and formed and then beaten by the renowned craftsmen of Moradabad in Northern India. Once beaten the lights have to be spun again so that any irregularities in the surface can be removed leaving a beautiful smooth finish which is painted in matt black lacquer, gloss white or brushed natural brass. The lights emit a warm localised illumination, perfect for over tables and counters and there is also a new grey powder coated version with a beautiful silver plate interior for a slightly cooler glow. All the lights hang from a black or white woven fabric cable and terminate with a metal ceiling cone. With four different shapes to choose from, Fat, Stout, Tall and Wide the Beat Lights can be hung in groups of the same or in mixed company creating a beautiful collection of forms that, though very different, seem to harmonise through shared history.
