whitechapel art gallery

£150.00

Chisel and Mouse produce beautifully detailed architectural models of famous and influential buildings. Each model is handmade in their Sussex studio from a strong plaster and has a reassuring weight and cool feel. Added details such as window frames, clocks and doors are made from etched brass and hand fitted to the finished plaster casting. This lovely model is of the fabulous entranceway to the Whitechapel Gallery. Designed by Charles Harrison Townsend and completed in 1901 the Gallery has exhibited work by some legendary artists such as Pablo Picasso, Frida Kahlo, Jackson Pollock and Lucian Freud. With a limited budget to work with Townsend focused on the front of the building and created the iconic beautifully detailed arched doorway.
