Session

So okay, in a world where very little that is original is allowed enough oxygen to catch fire I give you the Session. It’s a sofa and by contraction a chair. I can't pretend that sofas and chairs are original, they are everywhere, and the more useful ones tend to be defined by our ceaseless determination to sit, and like a shoe, have to be function shaped. In this case the function is to comfortably accommodate the human body whilst semi-supine, hopefully with a modicum of style. If a sofa can export some style to its human import then all the better and I can cheerfully report, having sat in the Session, that not only was it comfy but it made me look fabulous, though admittedly I look pretty fabulous anyway. How can you not want that in your life? Simply by sitting you look cool, slightly distant, mysteriously engaged in your own inner workings, and when you get up the human shaped hole you leave behind cries out with yearning.

Rume armchairs are not available to purchase online for good reason. We build them one at a time from scratch to the highest possible standard, to the individual specification of our clients, in our Sussex workshops. Our chairs are an exceptional blend of tradition and innovation with frames from first grade kiln dried timbers with glued, screwed and dowelled joints, in a finish of your choice, and with upholstery employing the finest modern materials and techniques. Rume design and make beautiful timeless furniture that is built to last and as such represents good value for money. Frame: Kiln dried beech, plywood, glued, screwed and dowelled.
Upholstery: Fully upholstered seat, buttoned back. Blind seams.
Seat: Various density shaped foam over steel coil springs.
Back: Reflex foam and felt over steel serpentine springs.
Legs: 8mm stainless steel, individually bent, Tig welded and ground.
Fabric: Fabric or leather of your choice through correspondence.
