Cristal Carafe

The Cristal carafe is a beautiful melding of contrasts. A heavy bright glass carafe with a ground and polished mouth wearing a hat of five delicate plastic cups of subtle colour. The staggered stack of muted cups plays off against the brilliance of the glass and the different materials suggest hard and soft, cool and warm. The carafe is large enough to supply all the cups with a good drink and looks equally marvelous whether administering aid, wine or water. Designed for Normann Copenhagen by Marcel Wanders, the creative director of Moooi, the Cristal is meant to be playful, a little bit strange an unexpected meeting of the intangible and the solid, inventive, arresting and never boring, and that’s when it’s empty.
