The bell has become a very popular source of inspiration for lighting design lately with lots of companies producing their own take on it. This tends to elicit rather literal, very bell like, interpretations. So trust Marcel Wanders of Moooi to take a slightly more eccentric approach. His Bell Lamp is a very different proposition, a gorgeous glass or opaline bell with a completely inexplicable gold or white bow on the top, because obviously bells always have bows. Actually, come to think of it Christmas bells have bows, so maybe its not quite so bonkers after all. Whatever the inspiration the effect is undeniably lovely, a glorious collision of classic hand blown glass topped with unashamed kitch. Inside the Bell Lamp, hanging like some oversized clanger is a white diffuser ball which softens glare and provides the lamp with a beautifully gentle sensibility. Available in two sizes, in smoke, green, amber, transparent or white glass and with bows and matching canopies in white or gold this is one lamp that is guaranteed to ring your bell.
