I have never been very fond of sofa-beds, I have been known to talk my clients out of them, convince them to buy one of our beautiful sofa-sofas instead, one that is full of loveliness and not a contorted mattress and if they must have guests over then get an airbed. But I have to concede that there are circumstances where a sofa-bed is worthwhile, where its possible shortcomings are outweighed by its advantages. If for example it gets used as a bed regularly, if it works as an everyday sofa, if it is made beautifully, looks great and can offer a good night's sleep for your guests. To satisfy these needs we have come up with the Jones, designed without compromise, with a beech frame, duck and reflex wrap cushions and covered in a fabric of your choice. It contains a Lampolet Romoflex mechanism and because it only folds once it has a coil spring orthopaedic mattress which is very comfortable even for extended visits. This is not simply a sofa-bed, this is proper Rume sofa that just happens to have a proper bed in it.

The Jones is also available in larger custom sizes however the 150cm width is the widest mattress size. The Jones can also be made as a sofa only, in all sizes.
Rume sofas are not available to purchase online for good reason. We build them one at a time from scratch to the highest possible standard, to the individual specification of our clients, in our Sussex workshops. Our sofas are an exceptional blend of tradition and innovation with frames from first grade kiln dried beech with glued, screwed and dowelled joints, legs in a timber and finish of your choice and with upholstery employing the finest modern materials and techniques. Rume design and make beautiful timeless furniture that is built to last and as such represents good value for money.
