The Semi lamp was designed in 1968 as a product of the creative partnership between two architects, Claus Bonderup and Torsten Thorup. Semi was conceived as a unique pendant lamp and was formed from a semi circle profile cut in half, placed back-to-back and then hand spun in aluminium. With its distinctive arc shaped, enameled shade, lightness of form and timeless design, the elegant Semi pendant achieved great success, gaining wide recognition, iconic status and becoming for a time, the best-selling Danish design in the world. The distinctive Semi silhouette creates a strong horizontal line and gives a cone shaped down light ideal for over work surfaces or dining tables. Now reissued by Gubi to original specification the Semi collection includes pendants in three sizes and a variety of finishes ranging from the classic mat white and black of the largest size to the lively glossy colours available on the medium and small.
