The Spun is a beautiful idea beautifully resolved. Upon the top of a swooping, gleaming trumpet base magically hangs a high gloss drum and resting within the drums supporting arms lies an opaque, pressed glass diffuser. The spun aluminium of the base is also used for the drum giving the light a sculptural continuity. This is maintained even when the lamp is turned on as the metal shade creates a spill of dimmable light from its top and bottom which throws the lamp into relief. The paint finish on the lamp is extraordinary, a super high gloss that clearly demonstrates the quality of the metalwork beneath. The table light comes in four finishes, black, white, mud and polished aluminium and in two sizes, the smaller T1 and the larger T2 and there is also a majestic floor lamp. The Spun light is a rare object both in its conception and its execution, it is hard to imagine how it could be improved upon.
