The Ray floor light is part of a series of lights designed by Rodolfo Dordoni for Flos. It is a curious but lovely juxtaposition of a sleek painted aluminium or grey glass drum shade atop a chrome plated pylon like structure. The drum houses a grey opaline glass diffuser which reduces glare and, with the aluminium shade, reflects the light off the white inner surface, providing bright, even, dimmable light. The drum itself comes in two colours, high gloss black or high gloss white and also in a hand blown grey opalescent glass. With the glass version the shade matches the inner diffuser so that the entire body of the light melds into a whole which gives off a generous amount of ambient illumination. The Ray is made in two sizes, the larger F2 and the smaller F1 both of which are beautifully proportioned and detailed and work well in any domestic or professional environment. The Ray is also available as a suspension and a table light.
