Cookie Notice
This is how the cookies crumble
We use a number of cookies on the Rume website all with various functions. You can accept or decline cookies manually by amending your web browser controls in settings. Please be advised that due to the essential nature of some cookies our website and services and those of other sites might not function as expected, or at all, if you decide to decline cookies.
What are Cookies?
In order to monitor and improve our website we may gather information about when and how you use it. This may include your domain name and IP address, your operating system, browser type and the website you visited prior to ours. Internet technologies are emerging that help us to deliver customised visitor experiences, one of these is the cookie. A cookie is a file that stores your browsing information. It is sent to your browser when you visit a website, depending on your settings your browser may then store it on your computer. Cookies allow us to see which pages are viewed by you and to determine the frequency and duration of visits to said pages so that we can better determine the most popular areas of our website. We also use cookies to give you a better website experience, for example they allow us to save your password so that you do not have to re-enter it each time you visit. They can also provide you with a customised experience when visiting our website. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies by default but you do not have to accept them should you wish not to. Most cookie controls can be found in your browser’s settings and you can turn them off or set them to notify you each time you receive one. This gives you the opportunity to decide if you want to allow it on a case by case basis.
In order for us to use cookies we first have to have your informed consent. This is given by you when you agree with the pop-up that will appear when you first visit our site. If you are not willing to consent to cookies then you should exit the site at this point. When you have finished browsing you can delete the cookies manually in your browser’s settings should you wish to do so. You can also browse anonymously locally (Incognito in Chrome, InPrivate in Internet Explorer or Private Browsing in Firefox and Safari) and cookies will either not be saved on your computer or should be automatically deleted when the anonymous tab or browser is closed. However please be aware that private browsing does not hide your online activity from your employer, your ISP and other online organisations.
If you would like to know more about cookies and how to control or delete them then we suggest you visit http://www.aboutcookies.org
Third Party Cookies.
Third party cookies are set on your machine by external sites whose services are used on the Rume website. An example being the buttons found on certain pages which allow visitors to share content via social networks. In order for these buttons to work and to connect to the relevant social networks and external sites, there are scripts from domains outside of our website. It should be noted that these sites are likely to be collecting information about your internet activity, including your activity on the Rume website.
If you have any concerns you should check the respective policies of each of these sites to see how exactly they use your information and to find out how to opt out, or delete, such information. It is always best to assume, unless you have taken countermeasures, that you are subject to tracking and information collection.
